This book is a study of the elements necessary to foster the reinvention and renewal of a country's economic engine, through the mobilization of investors to commit to private equity pools. Thebook offers casestudies of progress-driven entrepreneurs with differing backgrounds and endeavours,drawn from contemporary economies b6 s developed and developing. The cases illustrate the fundamental characteristics of this type of business leader, whose goal is focussed on promoting the well being of their stakeholders and communities. These entrepreneurs, the book argues, are engineers of societal progress, since their activities can stimulate a continuous bloom of new opportunities and provide inspiration to other budding entrepreneurs to do likewise. In order to developsuch progress-driven entrepreneurs, it is crucial to build up an enabling environment - with particular attention tothe need for ready access to risk-capital and know-how - vital inputs for entrepreneurs.
