From the specific cases considered, the authors seek todiscover where ethnic separatism in general is heading - towards peaceful resolution or greater violence and upheaval - in the globalizing and remarkably dynamic societies of Asia. The fate of ethnicseparatism in these lands may alter the map of Asia and will inevitably help shape the political futures of Asia's populations.
