Chapter 1) Spyridon N. Litsas, 'From Sentimental Idealism and Incompetent Realism towards a New Greek Grand Strategy: Searching for Ariadne's Thread.' -- Chapter 2) Akis Kalaitzidis, 'The Odd Duck: Why Greece's Foreign Policy Will not Turn out to Be a Swan!' -- Chapter 3) Asteris Huliaras & Sophia Kalantzakou 'Looking for an Oasis of Support: Greece and the Gulf States.' -- Chapter 4) George Voskopoulos, 'Greece in the emerging Eastern Mediterranean security sub-system: the capabilities-expectations-motivation gap.' -- Chapter 5) Sotiris Roussos, 'Greece and Regional Dynamics in the Eastern Mediterranean.' -- Chapter 6) Nikos Raptopoulos, 'The Greek-Turkish Relations during the Greek Crisis: The Impact of the Crisis on the Partnership Efforts.' -- Chapter 7) Nikos Tsafos, 'Greek Energy Policy.' -- Chapter 8) Dimitrios V. Skiadas, 'Greeek Fiscal Governance: The EU's Impact on Fiscal Governance.' -- Chapter 9) Ioannis Papadopoulos, 'The shortcomings of Greek European policy and the case study of the formation of the Banking Union.' -- Chapter 10) Kostantinos Filis, 'Greece-Russia: Seeking a firm orientation between aspirations and reality.' -- Chapter 11) Aristotle Tziampiris, 'Foreign Policy Against Austerity: SYRIZA's Multifaceted Experiment.'
This book examines the continuities and substantial transformations in Greek foreign policy before the beginning and during the unfolding of the economic crisis. Although up until now, significant attention has been cast on the rise of the neo-Nazi movement, the abuses and dysfunctions of the Greek economy, and the immense social ramifications of unemployment, less is understood about the impact on Greek diplomacy and foreign policy. This collective work not only attempts to delineate future trends in Greek foreign policy, but also seeks to explore the current events that resemble more a Greek tragedy than the systemic challenges that every nation has to face. This edited volume, quite original in its field of analysis, will be of interest to International Relations academics, foreign policy professionals, Politics and Economic students and the general public who follow developments pertaining to Greece and the European Union, as well theoretical debates surrounding International Relations.
