There seemed to be a growing interest in both introducing and explaining how products actually appear on customer doorsteps or find themselves on various store shelves. Indeed, with the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, there was increased awareness and anxiety that well-functioning supply chains are key to resolving shortages and delivery delays of both common and critical components across industries (Chesbrough, 2020; Page, 2020). It was also well understood that logistics affects the fortunes of firms in rather fundamental ways and suggests that logistics capabilities can add materially to organizations in terms of the ways they organize themselves around managing their inputs and outputs, which determines their competitiveness (Holcomb et al., 2011; Tita & Hufford, 2020). It is proposed here that antecedents predict logistics capabilities and that such capabilities influence the level of visibility within supply chains.
