Lifeline interconnectiveness modeling methodology.
[electronic resource] - 164 p.
Adviser: Brian Randolph.
Thesis (Ph.D.)--The University of Toledo, 2002.
Society relies on a series of critical lifelines that can be categorized as governmental/emergency services (human services), transportation, and utilities. The vulnerabilities and exposures of these lifelines are at an all time high. The identification of lifelines, the most critical lifelines, their vulnerabilities, interconnectiveness, and redundancies all need to be clearly understood to adequately predict the effectiveness of the Nation's lifelines. This research presents the lifeline interconnectiveness modeling methodology (LIM<super> 2</super>), derived from the factory level total productive maintenance concept, which calculates through the overall effectiveness of a lifeline system series of metrics. The LIM<super>2</super> metrics and associated parameters are specifically developed for the transportation lifeline of a mid-west micropolitan city as a case study.
