Recently many countries view athletic contests as one of the key indicator of a country’s competitiveness. Athletic competitions are becoming more important due global cooperation and peace initiatives. Although Taiwan recognizes the benefits of global athletic competitions, it still lacks the ability to provide up-to-date information and opportunities for athletes. Some athletic scholars agree that the athletic associations are the most important non-government organizations in promoting athletic activities. These non-government organizations seek resources from others, manage and guide local athletic committees in conducting competitions and executing athletic policies, planning and managing all athletic activities. This thesis evaluates the athletic associations’ performance. The research is done on local athletic committees run by athletic associations across Taiwan. Questionnaires related to team performance, perceived organizational support, and team autonomy were developed. A total of 1,421 questionnaires were sent, 361 questioners were returned but 136 questionnaires were not completed and therefore, are excluded from this study. A total of 225 questionnaires were analyzed. The findings are as follows: 1. Perceived organizational support and team performance are positively correlated.2. Team autonomy and team performance are positively correlated. 3. Perceived organizational support and team autonomy are positively correlated. 4. Team autonomy and perceived organizational support is not strongly correlated with team autonomy and performance.Based on the results analyzed, suggestions are as follows:1. The general managers in the athletic associations, and the directors and general managers in local athletic committees should have tenure in office.2. The athletic committees and the athletic associations should to interact more frequently. 3. The number of athletic committees under athletic associations should be reasonable.4. Athletic associations must build positive relationships with the government and enterprise to synergize resources. 5. Establish systematic trainings for developing marketing plans and promotions.Another follow-up study suggests that:1. To explore the perceived organizational support and team autonomy of the conflict. 2. The establishment of the commission for individual sports performance scale 3. To the research framework of various associations of the Republic of China and Taiwan cities and counties Athletic Association. 4. To compare the city and county sports associations, perceived organizational support, team autonomy, team performance differences.
