Abstract: In the past few years' usage of peer-to-peer cloud computing technology has increased dramatically in many sectors like e-commerce, e-education and file transferring. Cloud technology which consists of data clusters provides users with storage locations for large amounts of data. Cloud storage faces issues and challenges for securing data from malicious users. In this work, we propose a moving target mechanism using an infinite hash chain which provides security for data in a hierarchal P2P cloud. Our moving target mechanism uses two schemes for secure storage of data. Firstly, critical data is transferred from one node to another node in the P2P cloud using one way hash chains, while keeping the routing or finger tables constant. In the second approach, critical data is not transferred to a different storage location, but the routing table entries are changed using an infinite hash chain algorithm. A data storing procedure is been introduced for storing additional data blocks when there is insufficient memory space at the destination node. In this work we show that, the moving target mechanism using an infinite hash chain increases data storage security in a cloud P2P architecture.
