520 # $a The purpose of this study was to offer an example of a community art project that was included in the city renovation of a neighborhood which had been overrun with violence. As the designer of the mural, <italic>The Achievement Center</italic>, the author co-led in-depth workshops in which resident youth individually planned and painted the tiles. Therefore, the case study of this art project included observer-participation field notes, as well as interviews with the children and the adults who were intimately involved in the artwork and city renovation.
