PART I: THE ECONOMICS OF CASPIAN HYDROCARBON DEVELOPMENT -- EconomicDevelopment and Resource Dependency -- Management of Hydrocarbon Wealth: Oil Funds -- PART II: THE IMPACT OF OPERATING COMPANIES -- Major Oiland Gas Projects -- Companies and Governments -- Developing Local Content -- PART III: MODELS AND POLICIES FOR THE FUTURE -- Production, Revenues and Public Spending -- Policies for Sustainable Development --.
This book focuses on three Caspian economies - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan - and explores the economic challenges involved in managing hydrocarbon wealth - ultimately the most important issues facing a resource-rich economy as it develops an exploration and production strategy. The role of the operating companies and the prudential management of hydrocarbon wealth in the CaspianSea region, are increasingly important topics. And discussions must now begin within government in resource-rich countries with regard to designing optimal energy policies. Exploring the crucial issues of oil and gas wealth in the Caspian region, and drawing on the Author's first-hand experience indealing with the governments of the region, and her inside knowledge of the role andactivities of major companies in the area, this is a unique book that should attract the interest of both scholars and practitioners.
