Although, economic studies have been conducted on hunter expenditures very little research has been done regarding the expense and resulting economic impact of wildlife management in preparation for hunter activity. South Texas hunting operation demographic and expenditure data were collected via 1,421 mailed, self-administered questionnaires with a 24% response rate throughout the South Texas study area. The expenses were analyzed using IMPLAN to ascertain the economic impacts of the hunting operations for the study area. A total of 334 ranches comprising 2.3 million acres were used in the study. Estimated regional economic impacts in 2006 dollars equaled $5 84,963,358 with the creation of 6,559 jobs due to hunting operations expenditures.
