This ethnographic new media video project documents and explores the history and the perspectives of members of Padres Unidos de Maywood (PUMA), a community grassroots organization who have been challenging social and environmental injustice issues in the City of Maywood, California. The project contributes to the growing body of anthropological work in the areas of environmental justice and immigrant Latino communities in South East Los Angeles. The research design encompasses in-depth semi-structure interviews, video and audio documentation and participant observation at PUMA weekly meetings, conferences, and other related events. This project will have beneficial implications in advancing the work of PUMA as a community organization with prior history in challenging social and environmental injustices.
