Summary:	中式家具從春秋時代開始，便有許多不同功能的家具陸續出現，種類繁多，到了明清時期發展已相當鼎盛，無論是家具的比例、裝飾的紋樣、又或是功能和外觀上比例的拿捏，皆能表現出文化的特色以及精良的技術。但是，在現代的家具裡卻鮮少看到它們的蹤跡。西方古典家具在經過歷史演進下並沒有消失，而是不斷的被改良以符合當代的需求，無論是功能、樣式，也因為這樣不斷的與時俱進，西式家具逐漸成為世界家具的主流，反觀中式家具的價值彷彿只剩下收藏，在年輕一輩的人眼裡，似乎與老派、俗氣畫上等號。中式家具為在經過幾千年的演變之下，其文化意涵和使用的方式在現代的生活中一定能夠站有一席之地，因此在本論文中希望找出中式家具的功能及特點並以現代家具之設計手法重新設計、改良，將舊有元素轉化，並且能夠達到將中式家具的精神延續，讓更多的人了解中式家具的魅力。 Since the spring and autumn period, Chinese style furniture has developed various types with different functions. Until Ming and Qing Dynasty, its development has reached the peak. No matter the proportion, decoration, or reckon between functions and appearances, each and every can represent the features of Chinese cultures and the sophistication of technique. However, rarely can you see a track of Chinese style furniture in modern furniture. Conversely, Western classical furniture didn’t fade away under the evolution of history; instead, it kept modifying its functions and types to meet the contemporary needs. And because of keeping up with times, western furniture gradually becomes the trend in the world furniture. Yet, under thousand-of-year evolution, Chinese style furniture is definitely qualified to take a place in modern life. Therefore, the purpose of the essay is to discover functions and features of Chinese style furniture. By combining with the design method of modern furniture, we can redesign and improve the Chinese style furniture to extend its spirits, making more people understand its fascination.
