Introduction to the theme and the book -- Sustainable operations Strategy and Management: an introduction chapter to section I -- Flexibility of environmental regulations and the impact on operations innovation -- Organizational Drivers and Barriers of Circular Supply Chain Operations -- Inconsistent norms in buyer-supplier relations: a study of sustainability introduction in the Apparel industry -- Theory building within SOM: an introduction chapter to section II -- Business models in the circular economy and the enabling role of circular supply chains -- Disentangling Sustainability-Oriented Innovation and Its Link to Environmental Sustainability: An Exploratory Study in the Aviation Industry -- The impact of negative social / environmental events on the market value of supply chain partners -- Maximizing the retained value of product cannibalization based on circular economy principles -- Sustainable inter modal train transport -- Mapping logistics services in sustainable production and consumption systems: what are the necessary dynamic capabilities? -- Using the green Performance Map: towards the next step in material efficiency measurement -- Green capabilities and performance outcomes in logistics industry -- Interaction between buyer and supplier in green public procurement, an absorptive capacity perspective.
This edited book presents cutting edge international research in operations management sustainability and topical research themes. As the sustainability agenda gains greater prominence and momentum throughout society, business actors and stakeholders are increasingly concerned with the impact of current business operations. In several industries, business actors have already implemented sustainable business practices, while others are still contemplating how to create the necessary traditions in their own organization and throughout the supply chain. There is a growing need for OM research and practice which reflects these concerns. Based on demands from industry and society at large, universities and schools now develop academic programs which are meant to serve this need - yet there is no clear and manifest research program concerning OM and sustainability. This book is of use to both researchers orientating themselves in this new and exciting field and educators seeking inspiration to develop new courses.
