The governance of digital policies
towards a new competence in the European Union /[electronic resource] :by Mirela Marcut. - Cham :Springer International Publishing :2020. - xiii, 136 p. :ill., digital ;24 cm.
Chapter 1. Theoretical Framework -- Chapter 2. Digital Policies: Past and Present -- Chapter 3. The Governance of Digital Policies -- Conclusion.
This book examines the efforts of the European Union, both past and ongoing, to harness the socio-economic potential of the internet in public policy-making. In order to achieve this, the author delves into the interactions between actors in the process of EU decision-making, using an outlook which focuses on how both multi-level and experimentalist governance can provide solutions for digital policy governance. The book also addresses the involvement of local and regional authorities in digital policy-making, both in how they endorse decisions made at the EU level, and in how they contribute directly to digital policy-making in their own localities. Mirela Marcuț is a researcher and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Oradea, Romania. Her main research interests include digital policies in the European Union, and she has published two previous books on the subject: The Socioeconomic Evolution of the European Union: Exploring the Electronic Frontier (2016) and Crystallizing the EU Digital Policy: Exploring the Digital Single Market (2017)
